Second printing of the classic 1960 study, the continuation of Lloyd Lewis's 1950 "Captain Sam Grant" (which trilogy concludes with Catton's 1969 "Grant Takes Command"). An entirely routine copy but for nice provenance: From the library of Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021) and before him his father, Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65), Illinois governor and twice Democratic presidential candidate, well known as a Lincoln admirer and Civil War buff.
