Attractive first edition of this (to cite title page) "British School of Archaeology in Egypt and Egyptian Research Account Nineteenth Year, 1913" -- a highly-detailed chronicle by the pioneering archaeologist Petrie of these famed dig sites. Interestingly, the front pastedown bears the ownership signature and bookplate of Harry Spencer, long-time conservator and technician at the Manchester Museum (U.K.). In 1911 Petrie conducted his third dig at the Hawara site in Egypt, unearthing large numbers of Graeco-Roman period mummies; among these was the gilded mummy of Lady Isaious, and in the 1930s Spencer, working with noted Egyptologist Mary Shaw, took on the restoration of this mummy. Nice copy with interesting provenance.
