Intriguing association copy: Front flyleaf bears the large ownership signature in blue ballpoint of Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021), U.S. Senator from Illinois, and son of Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65), Illinois governor and twice Democratic presidential candidate whose speechwriter for those 1952 and 1956 campaigns was Schlesinger himself. Governor Stevenson appears in these pages quite often.
