Quite tight and handsome first edition of this publisher's keepsake, an annual holiday compilation -- this year featuring tales by George Ade, Hamlin Garland, Sarah Orne Jewett, Bret Harte, Frank R. Stockton, Alice Brown, Stephen Crane and Pope Paul VI. This special copy with a twist: Tipped to front flyleaf is a heavy stock 5" X 3" card signed large and bold by GEORGE ADE (1866-1944), Indiana humorist and playwright. Very good. Mildly age toned. Another hand dates the signature along bottom edge ("March 22 -- 1922") and notes along top edge "Author and Playwright." Ade's tale "To Make a Hoosier Holiday" opens this volume.
