Autograph Note Signed / Unsigned Color Photograph.

This U.S. Air Force officer, test pilot and NASA astronaut commanded Gemini 7 in 1965 and Apollo 8 in 1968, the first mission to fly around the Moon. Item #51829

Autograph Note Signed, 1p, 8½" X 11", n.p., n.y. [11 May 1992]. Very good. Original folds. Letter penned to the astronaut "for the Eighth Grade English Class" at his Las Cruces, New Mexico, corporate office by an Illinois teacher, who asks "if you will tell us what your favorite subject was in high school." On the blank lower half, Borman replies large and bold in black ballpoint: "My Favorite subject in / High School was Physics! / Sincerely / Frank Borman," below which he adds "Study Hard!" Accompanied by a matte-finish unsigned 10" X 8" color photograph, a NASA-issued image captioned at bottom "The Earth from Apollo 8, December 21, 1968" as published in 1970. Near fine. Quite minor corner bumps. Handsome "closeup" of the Earth surrounded by the blackness of space. Printed descriptive text on verso. A great content note and famed image.
