Signed Christmas card, 4 3/4" X 5", n.p., n.y. Near fine. Printed on beige stock by White & Wyckoff of Holyoke, Massachusetts, the front panel reproduces a color watercolor by Stephen Hamilton showing a sailing vessel on a calm sea perhaps at sunrise, a couple of icebergs in the distance, and is titled "Winter Seas." Inside left panel describes it as "Fishing schooners brave the icebergs along the coast of Labrador" and seasonal message on right panel bears the printed sentiment "All good wishes for a / MERRY CHRISTMAS / and a Happy New Year," below which Algren signs boldly in black ink. A choice memento from the "Poet of the Chicago Slums." Unusual.
