Partly-printed DS, 1p, 13½" X 10, Springfield, IL, 30 November 1888. Very good. Light original folds. Ornate certificate with elaborate border appointing William H. Richardson a 4-year term as notary public for the city of Kankakee in Kankakee County. Signed boldly by Oglesby as governor in lower right and co-signed by Secretary of State Henry D. Dement at lower left. Circular blind-embossed state seal also at lower left. Handsome, with a variety of large decorative typefaces (some with printed red underlining), etc.
