Pristine later printing of the 1980 revised edition of this thrilling account first published in 1966. Inscribed large and bold by the author in blue ballpoint on half-title page: "To Fred Lowrance / friend & / veteran campaigner / Semper Fi / Edwin C Bearss / 6/9/09." Bearss (1923-2020) was a USMC veteran of World War Two renowned for his Civil War writings and tours. Laid in is a color snapshot showing him inscribing a title for this same recipient.
