Report for the Years 1955-1957 including the Centennial Year
New York: The Woodrow Wilson Foundation, [1957]. Paperback. 8vo. Stiff printed wrappers. 64pp. Illustrations. Very good. Outer wrapper (only) faintly age toned, else tight and internally fine. Item #51274
Woodrow Wilson Foundation president August Heckscher introduces this interesting report of two years' worth of celebratory activities regarding the 28th U.S. president. One of Wilson's greatest admirers was fellow Princeton alumni Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65), Illinois governor and two-time Democratic presidential candidate, and this was his personal copy. On the front wrapper, he boldly red pencils "page 10" at upper right, and on this page (whose corner he has folded down) is a full-page illustration of himself with Mrs. Woodrow Wilson taken at a 1955 commemorative event. Tipped to inside front wrapper is the Foundation's "Presented with the compliments of" slip. From the library of his son, Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021), U.S. senator from Illinois (1969-81). Quite unusual.
