Tight, handsome later printing -- uncommon to find in a pretty jacket. All in all a superb copy of this renowned architectural study of these two French cathedrals, a blend of medieval history and travel. "As we turn these magical pages," the jacket front panel proclaims, "seven centuries dissolve and vanish away...." Ownership signature in blue ink on front pastedown of Frank S. Hanlin (1924-82, noted bibliographer and University of Iowa special collections director), who adds, "San Francisco / November 1950."
