The versatile deep-voiced actor of stage, screen and television won the Tony Award for "The Great White Hope" (1968) and another for "Fences" in 1987; along with numerous films that include "Field of Dreams" (1989) and "The Hunt for Red October" (1990), he is often remembered as the voice of Darth Vadar in the "Star Wars" films.
