From the League of Nations to the United Nations.
New York: The Woodrow Wilson Foundation, 1946. Paperback. 8vo. Wrappers. 19pp. Very good. Outer wrappers a bit worn and faintly age toned, else tight and nice. Item #50120
First and likely sole printing of this "Broadcast over the American Broadcasting System at 10:00 p.m., E.S.T., Saturday, December 28, 1946, under the sponsorship of the Woodrow Wilson Foundation." Stevenson -- whose Illinois governorship was three years down the road, as were his two presidential bids -- had been with the State Department since 1945 working under Assistant Secretary of State Archibald MacLeish, where he was sent to London as Deputy United States Delegate to the Preparatory Commission of the United Nations Organization, then as primary Delegate. Personal copy of Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65). Long a Wilson admirer, Stevenson was also a fellow Princeton alumni. Front wrapper title: "Woodrow Wilson: Radio Addresses in Commemoration of Woodrow Wilson's Ninetieth Birthday Celebration -- December 28, 1946." From the library of his son, Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021), U.S. Senator from Illinois (1969-81).
