Sir Robert was an Irish astronomer whose lectures, articles and books such as "The Story of the Heavens" (1885), "The Story of the Sun" (1893) and "The Great Astronomers" (1895) popularized this science; he served as Royal Astronomer of Ireland from 1874 to 1892. Item #49453

ANS, 6¼" X 4" (lettersheet), n.p., n.y. Near fine. Faintly age toned. Below a large and bold full signature at top, he adds: "With many thanks for / your very kind words / RSB / And the shamrock!!" A charming piece, both signed and initialed. Rather uncommon.
