Her huge inscription and signature in black fineline nearly fill the title page: "Dear Bill -- / What a great / festival -- / hurrah for / Iowa -- love from / Ruth Stone." Bill Pauly (1942-2021) was a poet and long-time English professor at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. Stone (1915-2011) authored a dozen-plus volumes and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
