A handsome and tight first edition of this large gathering from the Modernist artist (1922-2007) best known for bold, colorful prints and posters often featuring birds and wildlife. This copy bears a choice autograph addition: Tipped facing the title page is a First Day Cover signed by Harper: 6½" X 3½, cancelled in Knovxille, TN on 29 April 1982 and with "First Day of Issue" so stamped. Near fine. Harper-designed block of four 20-cent USPS stamps ("Solar energy," "Synthetic fuels," "Breeder reactor" and "Fossil fuels") at upper right. Harper’s big, bold signature in black ballpoint near the center. Superb copy with great add-on -- in effect an extra-illustrated frontispiece.
