Attractive first edition of this study by the famed American diplomat (1909-94). He boldly inscribes and signs the front flyleaf in blue ballpoint: "To Adlai / With affectionate regards / George W Ball / June 18, 1976." From the collection of Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021), U.S. Senator from Illinois (1969-81). Great presentation copy to the then-current Illinois senator -- especially choice since as a young attorney Ball joined future Illinois governor Adlai E. Stevenson II's Chicago law firm and became his protege -- as well as a major player in Stevenson's 1952 presidential campaign.
