Sharp and tight first edition of this generous selection of correspondence of this widely influential figure (1891-1969) -- front jacket flap describes him as "The insecure college student out of the West, the young, practicing, bored attorney, the miserable doughboy, the western 'probate and real estate' lawyer and aspiring politician, the zestful academician and political theorist, the successful administrative innovator, the restless judge, and finally, the corporate lawyer...." Tipped to front flyleaf of this lovely copy is a Typed Letter Signed from Gressley, 1p, 8½" X 11", Laramie, WY, 26 October 1992. On University of Wyoming letterhead, Gressley chats cordially with his attorney on a variety of matters, such as: "Yale rolled out the carpet.... I then went off to Tarrytown to work in the Rockefeller archive. Tarrytown must be one of the most pleasant communities in New England. The Rockefeller Archive is very well run...." Signed simply "Gene." Gressley (1932-2016) was a historian whose other books include "Bankers and Cattlemen," "Bostonians and Bullion: The Journal of Robert Livermore 1892-1915" and "Advocates and Adversaries: The Early Life and Times of Robert R.
