Handsome collection of this broad-based liberal arts magazine (art, culture, literature, history, etc.) magazine in unusual hardbound format that endured until 1989. This group stars with their premiere issue -- Volume 1, Number 1 (September 1958) -- whose contributors include H.R. Trevor-Roper ("A Case of Coexistence: Christendom and the Turks"), Julian Huxley ("Man's Challenge: The Use of the Earth"), explorer Freya Stark ("Great Is Diana of the Ephesians"). Irving Stone ("The Perfect Beauty"), Marquis W. Childs ("The World of Walter Paepcke"), Gilbert Highet ("Sense and Nonsense") and other notables. Also included are the following five volumes (November '58, January '59, March '59, May '59, July '59). A great assemblage of a remarkable publication.
