Article from the Publication No. 365, the 1929 "Transactions of the Illinois State Historical Library," which noted Lincoln scholar Thomas Irwin Starr (1903-65), who edited the 1941 "Lincoln's Kalamazoo Address Against Extending Slavery" and other titles, had custom bound for his well-known collection with a typed title page. After Barton's article, Starr also had bound in a single leaf from the January 1931 "Journal of the Illinois State Historical Society" (Volume XXIII, Number 4) -- Paul M. Angle's obituary and tribute to Barton, who had died on 7 December 1930. The front pastedown of the pale green patterned endpapers bears Starr's gold foil bookplate. Most unusual!
