Tight, quite nice first of this reprint edition of this 1891adventure of a plucky 16-year-old trying to unravel the mystery of his uncle's robbery. Gardner (1924-2005), New York advertising executive better known as a pioneering Alger biographer and bibliographer, introduces this text -- and the front flyleaf bears a fine archival, decorative-edged bookplate boldly inscribed and signed by him in blue fineline: "Wish best wishes / from / Ralph D. Gardner." An exceptional copy of a much less often seen title -- and with a fine autograph addition.
