Report of the Commission of Fine Arts: Message from the President of the United States Transmitting the Report of the Commission of Fine Arts of Their Activities During the Period July 1, 1948, to June 30, 1954.

Washington, DC: Government Printing Office, [1960]. Paperback. 4to. Stiff green wrappers. 113pp. Frontispiece, illustrations. Errata sheet tipped in. Near fine. Item #38598

Tight, attractive first edition of this report of this Congressional commission surveying their activities during this 6-year period, with chapters covering "Public Buildings," "Sculpture," "Paintings," etc. The secretary of this commission boldly signs and inscribes the title page in blue ballpoint: "For Mr Carl Tolpo / with all kind wishes / for more and finer / sculpture in the / United States / Linton Wilson / 6 April 1960." Carl Tolpo (1901-76), noted sculptor of Abraham Lincoln and painter, pens a few small ink notes to himself at upper right of front flyleaf. Interesting copy.
