A tight, quite nice first edition of this account of the famed Green Bay Packers coach, published just after his death. This unique copy bears six superb autograph additions: Tipped to the front flyleaf (both sides) and leaf facing title page (as if a frontispiece) are fine, matching heavy stock 3" X 5" cards all boldly signed by members of the 1969 Washington Redskins roster, all coached by Lombardi. Front flyleaf: At top is GARY BEBAN (born 1946, quarterback) who signs and adds "[?] '68" and dates it 4 March 1974 at upper right; below him is CHRIS HANBURGER (born 1941, linebacker) who signs in blue ballpoint and dates it 23 October 1973 at upper right. Inner flyleaf: At top is CARLTON KAMMERER (born 1937, defensive end/linebacker) who sign in blue ballpoint and dates it 8 January 1977 at upper right; below him is JOE RUTGENS (born 1939, defensive tackle) who signs in blue ballpoint and dates it 2 December 1974 at upper right. Facing title page: At top is RAY SCHOENKE (born 1941, tackle/guard) signs in black fineline and dates it 10 April 1980 at upper right; below him is CHARLEY TAYLOR (1941-2022, wide receiver/running back) who signs in red ballpoint. Also present are all six original transmittal envelopes. An incredibly unusual copy.
