One of Alaska's first and certainly one of its greatest bush pilots was this adventurer and explorer, author of the bestselling 1969 "Last of the Bush Pilots." Signed postage stamp, 1½" X 1", n.p., n.y. Fine. Mint example of the 1954 "Lewis and Clark Expedition" three-cent U.S. postage stamp, which depicts the explorers standing in front of their boat along a rugged coastline and is printed entirely in brown. Across the sky, Helmericks signs boldly with his handsome, minute signature. A superb, tiny example on an appropriate philatelic item. Item #36115
