This naval officer served in the Spanish-American War, the Boxer Uprising in China and World War One, in which he commanded the U.S.S. San Francisco; in 1927 he was named rear admiral, and from 1931 to 1933 commanded the Washington Navy Yard, then took command of the Battle Force Aircraft Squadrons until 1936. Item #35111
