Signature and Inscription.

LEFEBVRE, Joseph-Charles (1892-1973).

This French religious figure was appointed archbishop of Bourges in 1943 (serving until 1969) and in 1960 was named cardinal; from 1962 to 1965 he took part in the Vatican II Council. Inscription (in French) and signature (plus "Arch. de Bourges" title) in blue ink, heavy stock 5" X 3" card, n.p., 1969 January 7. Fine. With original envelope, with his title penned in his hand at upper left. A handsome example, signed just months before Lefebvre's resignation as archbishop on October 10. Rather scarce. Item #34977
