This important figure in American Episcopalian history served as rector of Christ Church in Chicago from 1860 until his death in 1916; he was the second bishop of the Reformed Episcopal Church, serving as Presiding Bishop from 1876 to 1877 and from 1887 to 1889. Large and bold "Bishop Cheney" in thick blank ink, heavy stock 3¼" X 1 3/4" card (tipped to slightly larger leaf), n.p., n.y. Very good. Moderately, evenly age toned. A handsome signature example.
