Printed solicitation sent to member of the Foundation requesting opinions on a famed Lincoln lithograph, "President Lincoln Writing the Proclamation of Freedom, Jan. 1, 1863," which he wanted to publish in "Lincoln Lore." Writes McMurtry, "To some, it may appear to be a caricature with an anti-Lincoln slant. To others, it may be filled with symbolism and meaning with a pro-Lincoln approach.
