I.P. Sherwood Dry Goods & Millinery.

(CIVIL WAR TOKEN).

Cleveland, OH: I.P. Sherwood Dry Goods & Millinery, 1863. 3/4" diameter. Very good. Bright and attractive, with original luster. Typical copper coin, no denomination stated but certainly one cent. Recto depicts a left-facing relief bust of an Indian in headdress surrounded by 13 stars, the year "1863" below. All-text verso reads "I.P. Sherwood / Dry / Goods / & / Millinery / Cleveland, O." Although the Indian recto is one of the more common Civil War token designs, the store specific advertisement on verso makes this rather uncommon. The original sheen still evident makes this an especially attractive example. Item #28466

Price: $125.00
