Music of the Civil War.

New York: The Civil War Round Table of New York, 1967 June 13. Paperback. 16mo. Stiff wrappers. (4pp). Fine. NOT a speech or essay, but rather a program for the 160th meeting of this distinguished group, the topic of the meeting as announced on the front wrapper being this speech. Near the center of this, Bernard signs boldly in black fountain pen. Bernard (1906-?) was a historian at Boston University and the foremost authority on Civil War music; his publications include the classic "Lincoln and the Music of the Civil War" (1966) and "Abraham Lincoln: The Song in His Heart" (1970). Inside left consists of the program itinerary, inside right a thumbnail biography of Bernard, outside rear wrapper a list of this Round Table's past presidents -- among them noted Lincoln/Civil War scholar ARNOLD F. GATES (1914-93; president 1965-66), from whose collection this choice memento comes. In original envelope. Item #28242
