Signed Postal Cover.

This cartoonist, artist, sculptor and children's book author drew the syndicated "Eek & Meek" strip from 1965 to 2000. Signed Postal Cover, 6½" X 3½", cancelled in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania on 15 August 1975. Fine. Single 10-cent American crossed flags stamp at upper right. An enterprising admirer has clipped out and affixed an actual daily "Eek & Meek" strip, 6¼" X 2¼", across the bottom edge of this cover. In this 3-panel strip, customer says to bartender, "This year marks the start of America's bicentennial celebration," to which the barkeep replies, "So?" Customer goes on, "Remember those brave guys who rowed across the Delaware with George Washington?" to which the barkeep again replies, "So?" Customer replies, "So how about one for the rowed?" A clever tie-in between the comic strip subject and the postal cancellation. Above the strip, at upper left of the cover, Schneider signs large and bold in black fineline. Small portion of original transmittal envelope also present. Item #23935
