HOLLIS, Ira N. (1856-1930).

This influential naval engineer and engineering educator served as professor of mechanical engineering at Harvard and as dean of the Harvard University School of Engineering (1893-1913), then as president of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (1913-25). TNS, 1p, 8½" X 7¼", Worcester, MA, 1924 June 13. Addressed to the president of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, noted physicist Samuel W. Stratton (1861-1931). Near fine.
