LUBBOCK, John (1st Baron Avebury) (1834-1913).

Although he had a distinguished career in economics and banking -- he is responsible for instituting bank holidays and other reforms -- it is as a writer on entomology and archeology that he is remembered; his "Pre-historic Times" (1865) was long the standard textbook on archeology. Item #20930
