Exceptionally, outstandingly tight and bright first edition of this hefty survey -- whose timing of course coincided with Chicago's 1893 Columbian Exposition. Title translates "Four Hundred Years of American History: On the 400th Anniversary of the Discovery of America." Reverend Gustav Adolf Zimmermann (1850-1903) was a Swiss-born pastor, editor of Chicago's German-language newspaper "Deutsche Warte" and superintendent of the Chicago Public School's German department. A superlative copy. Not, surprisingly, in Tolzmann's "German-Americana: A Bibliography."
