Attractive and internally fine and bright first of this edition, with rear colophon noting limitation of 999 copies. Little is known about this British lexicographer, but although two English language dictionaries preceded his, he was the first to use the word "Dictionary" in the title so is granted a certain distinction; on top of that it was popular and went through eleven editions between this first edition (whose text is represented here) and 1658.
