Just a tight and nice book club edition-- but yowza! What an exceptional copy, for this gathering of writings from the "Mercury Seven" bears interesting autograph additions from not one, not two, not three, but FOUR of these pioneering astronauts. In order of appearance: Tipped to inner flyleaf is "Best wishes / WM Schirra" in blue ballpoint on a 5" X 6" slip (bearing typed demanding request from admirer: "Please write a little verse something like this: / 'BEST WISHES TO [name] FROM WALTER M. SCHIRRA, JR.' / Thanks a million for helping a friends hobby / out"); near fine. Tipped in facing this is an 8" X 5¼" scallop-edged sheet with printed floral decoration at upper left; at center is "Good luck to [name] -- / M. Scott Carpenter" in black fineline (similar typed request at top); near fine. Next inner flyleaf bears at top a 4" X 1 3/4" slip bearing "Best wishes to [name ] -- Donald K. Slayton" in black fineline; good plus (minor age toning, with tape stain at each corner). Below this is a 5" X 4½" newspaper photograph, an informal scene showing a smiling young Glenn signing a book for a little girl and caption "John H. Glenn Jr. signs his name in youngster's Bible outside Riverside Presbyterian Church on Cocoa Beach, Fla., after attending Sunday services"; in a light area at upper left, he signs boldly in black ink. While none of these four are dated, all are contemporaneous with the book, dating from circa 1962. Again: Just a book club edition, yet quite a unique copy.
