On God's Squad: The Story of Norm Evans.
Carol Stream, IL: Creation House, [1971]. Hardcover. Foreword by Don Shula. 8vo. Orange cloth with black spine lettering, pictorial dust jacket. 192pp. Illustrations. Fine/fine. Item #48243
Superbly tight and pristine first edition of this "as told to" account, with fine autograph addition: Tipped to front flyleaf is a heavy stock 5" X 3" card signed boldly by Evans in blue ballpoint, below which he pens "Romans 1:16" and at upper right he dates it 18 December 1973. (This Bible verse, by the way, reads: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.") Evans (born 1942) played offensive tackle for the Houston Oilers (1965), Miami Dolphins (1966-75) and Seattle Seahawks (1976-78). Laid in is the perfect bookmark: Evans' original transmittal envelope, into which he inserted a "Steps to Peace with God" leaflet.
