Superb, tight first edition of this journalistic account of the 1986 fire that ravaged the Los Angeles Public Library, bringing in much history of that institution along the way. Added inner flyleaf ("This signed edition of... specially bound by the publisher") boldly signed by Orleans in black fineline. While the lack of an index is an annoyance in any nonfiction work, the trompe l'oeil library pocket with card on rear pastedown is a delightful deception.
