On the front flyleaf, Koch boldly inscribes and signs in brown ink "To / Mr Theodore W. Robinson / with the Compliments / of / Theo. W. Hoch." Koch (1871-1941) was Northwestern University's noted head librarian (1919-41) and author of a number of bibliographical studies; recipient Robinson (1862-1948) was a Chicago art patron, mechanical engineer and vice president of Illinois Steel Company.
