Handsome pair of this LEC production of the picaresque novel by this Scottish writer first published in 1751. Colophon at rear notes limitation of 1500 numbered copies (this #1132) signed boldly by Austen. Laid in is the small printed announcement card and, of greatest interest, the 4to (9" X 12") printed "Popularity Ballot: Seventh Series" sent out by the LEC to subscribers, which lists this series' eleven titles starting with Smollett and leaves blank columns for the subscriber to rank their preference for each title and to comment on "What I did, or did not, like about the book." This near fine copy has never been filled in; these forms are rarely encountered. NEWMAN 72.
