This Football Hall of Famer (elected 1986) was twice named All-America running back and won the Heisman Trophy in 1956; as a Green Bay Packers star (1957-66) he led the NFL in scoring three times. Item #47895
PS (newsprint), 3¼" X 5¼", n.p., n.d. Very good. Faintly age toned only, with small tape stain at each corner. Full-length newspaper portrait of a young Hornung in uniform running with the ball; just right of center he boldly signs in blue ballpoint, adding "Good Luck" above. Undated, but printed caption at bottom reads "Paul HGornung ... all-league selection" -- which happened to him twice, in 1959 and 1960, dating this image. Accompanied by a high-quality original 10" X 8" glossy black-and-white photograph, a professional shot showing (left to right) Hornung, Bill Quinlan and coach Vince Lombardi standing on the sidelines during a game watching the action. Near fine. Although on newsprint, this is an attractive and early Hornung signature from the start of his career and a superb, likely unpublished photograph.
