Fine/very good. Jacket faintly rubbed. Item #47705

Superb copy of this evocative LEC production, with rear colophon noting limitation of 1500 numbered copies (this #241) boldly signed by illustrator Gnoli. Defoe's account of the Great Plague of 1665 in London was first published in 1722 and is exceptionally scarce; the LEC is one of the loveliest of all modern editions. The large red "X" (as in "avoid this plague-riddled house") on front board and "1665" on rear board are bold and dramatic. Appropriate "Monthly Letter" laid in. NEWMAN 401.
