Outstanding set of the memoirs of the famed 18th centuryItalian writer and adventurer whose name has become synonymous with promiscuity and sexual prowess. This unique set bears two superb autograph additions: Signatures of not one but two Casanovas -- film version stars, that is! Tipped to inner flyleaf are two fine, matching, heavy stock signed 5" X 3" cards. At top is VITTORIA GASSMAN (1922-2000), who plays Casanova in his lead actor debut, the 1948 Italian historical adventure film "Il cavaliere misteriosa" (The Mysterious Rider) -- he signs large and bold in blue ballpoint, dating it 18 October 1984 at upper right. Below this is ALAIN DELON (born 1935), who plays Casanova in the 1992 French drama "Le Retour de Casanova" (The Return of Casanova) -- he signs large and bold in black fineline, dating it 1 November 1970 at upper right. Laid in are the ideal bookmarks: Gassman and Delon's original transmittal envelopes. Lovely edition "Now fully annotated for the first time in English." Printed in Edinburgh by R. & R. Clark, this massive edition bears rear colophon limiting it to 1500 numbered copies (this #1008). NEWMAN 116.
