A tight and attractive copy of the title for which this English poet and writer (1775-1864) is by far best known, long considered a model for imagery-laden lush prose and splendid language. The first two volumes were published as "Imaginary Conversations of Literary Men and Statesmen" in 1824, with three more volumes appearing over the next three decades. Colophon at rear notes limitation of 1500 numbered copies (this #979) handsomely signed by Hans Mardersteig, who printed it at the renowned Officina Bodoni in Verona, Italy. Publisher's heavy stock 5½" X 3½" printed announcement card laid in.
