Superbly bright and pristine first and only edition of this exceptional compilation of five McLean County atlases -- each quite scarce in fine condition -- compiled by William LaBounty and with an all-important index that makes it useful added. There is the Peter Folsom Map of 1856, the 1866 sheet map, the 1874 Atlas, the 1895 Atlas and the 1914 Atlas -- all in glorious, high-quality color. From the collection of Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021), U.S. Senator from Illinois (1969-81), son of the governor (Adlai II, 1900-65) and great-grandson of the vice president (Adlai I, 1835-1914) and great-grandson of Jesse W. Fell (1808-87) -- Bloomingtonians all. The name Stevenson was long associated with Bloomington -- county seat of McLean County -- where they were prominent businessmen, and it pops up in various of these atlases.
