Fourth edition of the English version of this small but thick-as-a-brick exhaustively thorough travel guide and reference work combo (first published in this form 1953). From the collection of Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021), U.S. Senator from Illinois (1969-81) -- and on leaf facing title page are inked some travel notes and oddball observations ("...Burgos -- Buitrago!!! bought [?] can openers, old castle, road to river old bridge. On route stoney fields, stone walls, barnyards, tile roofs. Man on horse taking 6 cows to field"), likely in Stevenson's hand. A fun, unusual copy.
