Glass Paints, Varnishes and Brushes: Their History Manufacture and Use.

Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, 1923. Hardcover. 4to. Full brown blind-embossed leatherette with embossed gilt lettering and decorations. 208pp, 178pp, xxii. Extensive illustrations, some full-page color plates, several tissue-guarded color swatch leaves. Very good. Faint binding edgewear only, else tight and internally near fine; bit of spotting to preliminary leaves. Item #47149

Quite lovely first edition of this cross between a trade catalogue and an industry history, titled simply “Glass-Paints: Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company” on front board. As the introductory note offers, "Originally this book was planned to be merely a catalogue... of the manifold products of the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company.... The work has grown on our hands; the book has become a volume...." Founded in 1883, Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company later shed its plate glass line and today is known as Pittsburgh Paints, one of the world's largest paint and coatings producers. Uncommon in such sharp condition.
