Attractive, tight first edition of this readable, well-illustrated young adult survey of the Land of Lincoln's runaway slave system -- signed boldly by Turner in blue ballpoint and dated 18 September 2004 on half-title page. In adition, tipped to inside front wrapper is an Autograph Letter Signed from Clarice Boswell, author of "Lizzie's Story: A Slave Family Journey to Freedom" (cited by Turner as "the Illinoisan who is most knowledgeable about the secrets held within the UGRR quilts"). 1p, 5" X 8", Plainfield, IL, 20 September 2004.
