Item #46853 Autograph Letter Signed. Stewart Conrad WRIGHT.

Autograph Letter Signed.

This Methodist minister preached in New Mexico in the late 19th century. Item #46853

Intriguing ALS, 2pp (single leaf), 5½" X 9", Albuquerque, NM, 19 January 1889. Addressed to Professor J. Haskell. Very good. A bit age toned. Nice content about New Mexico, reading in part: "We arrived in Santa Fe on the 27th Dec and remained there for ten days. I have since been in this city and have taken charge of a congregation. The climate is much ahead of Colorado. For my own part I am delighted with everything in New Mexico except Rum and Romanism. I wish president Harrison would appoint you governor of N.M. We have petitioned him to appoint a christian man to that office. It would be a great pleasure for me to welcome you and your family to this Italian climate. I will be pleased to hear from you and will gladly give you any information you want concerning this territory...." Nicely penned in an attractive hand. We have not been able to identify Haskell, though this warrants research.
