Item #46711 The Beat Generation and the Angry Young Men. Gene FELDMAN, Max GARTENBERG.
The Beat Generation and the Angry Young Men.

The Beat Generation and the Angry Young Men.

New York: The Citadel Press, [1958]. Hardcover. 8vo. Tan cloth with white spine lettering, dust jacket. 384pp. Very good/good only. While tight and internally near fine, binding shows some spotting and age toned spine; jacket is complete and decent, though edgeworn and with edge chips (mainly spine head/tail), numerous expert archival mends on verso. Item #46711

A tight and decent second printing of these (to cite front jacket panel) "Most Exciting Selections from the Writings That Have Aroused Widespread Acclaim and Controversy..." -- and this nice copy bearing two choice autograph additions: Tipped to front flyleaf are two fine, matching heavy stock 5" X 3" cards signed by one writer of the "Beat Generation" and one writer of the "Angry Young Men" group, both of whom have excerpts in this book. At top is R.V. CASSILL, who signs boldly in blue ballpoint and dates it 26 May 1987 at upper right, and below him is COLIN WILSON, who likewise signs in blue ballpoint and dates it 2 September 1977 at upper right. Cassill (1919-2002), whose short story "Fracture" appears in this book, was a prolific American novelist, editor, educator, short story writer, painter and lithographer. Wilson (1931-2013), whose "Country of the Blind" that appears here was the opening chapter of his bestselling "The Outsider," was an unbelievably prolific English novelist, writer and philosopher. Quite a unique copy of this seminal anthology and with ideal bookmarks (Cassill and Wilson's original mailing envelopes) laid in.
