GABRESKI, Francis S. "Gabby" (1919-2002).

The top USAAF fighter ace in Europe during World War Two is credited with downing 35 enemy aircraft and was one of only seven who became an ace in two wars (Korea); he was also an accomplished commander of several fighter groups. Item #46620

Modern reproduction of a great pose of a smiling young Gabreski seated in his P-47 cockpit, with 28 small Nazi flags on the plane's side denoting confirmed victories. In a light blue sky area at upper left, he boldly inscribes and signs in black fineline "To Ron Beam -- / With kind regards / and best wishes! / Francis S. Gabreski / Col USAF." A stellar example.
